The Singapore Feeling

We are easily recongnisable by our accent. Trust me. Though sometimes we can get mixed up with Malaysian (I dunno what the hell those people are thinking but...) we are unique. No culture of our own? I don't think so. Do you seriously feel comfortable not speaking Singlish for a prolonged period? I mean we can be proper, formal, some of us can even have the American or British accent. But when you are with your own people, shouldn't we use our own language? We have been recognised through it before, and I love the feeling of seeing or hearing things Singaporean. Don't get me wrong, this is not patriotism, especially when it comes to Singapore as a country with its governance and all.

But it is nice to be in Hong Kong, not so far from home and no cultural shock per se. We see Singapore stuff here everywhere (we don't need to go to some remote Chinatown to get frozen Roti Prata or spices, even Ba Kut Teh packs) but the feeling when you see people you are is really good. And it helps that many CS peepz are around this region. Met up with Shuiling and Khaiyan who were enroute to Fudan. Man, it feels different and you can really strike up a conversation like instantly? I have not spoke a word to Khaiyan before...hahahaha...and to think she said I could speak Cantonese...haha....damn..that was funny. And yes, they were trapped by the touristy stuff here. Not that all of them are bad, I still have yet to explore everything and I really want to, but the more famous ones like Avenue of Stars and the laser show is really well....crap.

Got 2 quizzes (or midterms) next week, both MCQ style, and I really don't feel like studying, still. Anyway, I wanna go Staney this Saturday, and hopefully that would energize me to study on Sunday. Dotz...haha
